A garden that keeps children busy for days
The enclosed farmhouse garden of a thousand square metres faces south-west and belongs to everyone staying here. There is a treehouse, there is play equipment, there is a shared barbecue terrace, and there are chickens scratching about. In late summer you pick apples from the trees in the garden.
Between the dunes and the cheese market
Groet is a small village between Schoorl and Camperduin, exactly where the North Sea beach and the Schoorl dunes meet. The dunes here are the highest and widest in the Netherlands; the sand begins at the edge of the village. Shops, a supermarket and a bike hire shop are fifty metres from the property.
The beach access points at Camperduin and Hargen are easily reached on foot or by bike. At Camperduin there is a sheltered, shallow lagoon, ideal for children. One of the best mountain bike routes in the Netherlands runs through the dunes, and in Alkmaar the famous cheese market is held on Fridays.

Every season has its own coast

Bulb fields in bloom
In April and May the bulb fields around Groet are in bloom; along the Belkmerweg and at the Hortus Bulborum in Limmen.

Beach days & the lagoon
Swimming at Hargen or Camperduin, playing in the sheltered lagoon by the play ship, and a barbecue on the barbecue terrace in the garden.

Blowing the cobwebs away in the dunes
Walking in the Schoorl dunes and picking apples in the farmhouse garden.

Empty beaches, a warm house
The beach and the dunes without the crowds, and then warming up indoors with the underfloor heating.
